Balansekunst deltar i panelet Curva – From awareness to action om mangfoldsarbeid i kulturlivet.

Panelet består av Joakim Aadland fra Balansekunst og Michelle Badiane fra AKKS Bergen. Bê Duarte, prosjektleder for CURVA i Portugal, modererer samtalen på Union Scene.

Curva – From awareness to action

This panel creates space for a collective reflection on inclusion and diversity in the context of grassroots music venues. As cultural spaces with the power to shape communities and challenge the status quo, what is our role as programmers, curators, and cultural workers in dismantling structural inequalities? How can we move beyond symbolic gestures and embody real commitment to inclusive and representative programming? 

Drawing from the CURVA Manual – a practical toolkit developed through collective training and reflection, the panel invites participants to reflect on their own positions of privilege, and consider how to shift from awareness to accountability. How can we turn inclusive intentions into concrete, long-term change in our practices and institutions? What are the barriers, internal and systemic, that we need to name, face, and collectively rework? 

This is not about finding a one-size-fits-all solution, but about sharing experiences, strategies, and doubts to nurture a more diverse and equitable live music ecosystem.
